What is a Mission Tracker? A Mission Tracker is the ultimate lds missionary plaque and makes the perfect lds missionary gift. It is more than just an ordinary plaque, it is a beautiful wall-hanging. The Mission Tracker begins with a 16″ X 20″ black wood frame. This frame holds a laser-cut double mat that showcases the name of your family member or friend, the name of the mission and dates they will be gone, or the area of military deployment and dates gone at the top, in an elegant script font. The elongated oval opening is where you can place your favorite 3 1/2″ X 5″ or 4″ X 6″ photograph of your faraway family member.

A Mission Tracker can be used for keeping track of that special person who has to be away from home for an extended period of time. It is a great way to keep track of a missionary or missionary couple while they are gone on their Christian-based mission. Anyone who has a husband, son, or other family member in the military who gets deployed for a period of time will love the convenience of the wall plaque Tracker. It is also a great memento for that retired couple who takes an extended anniversary trip and wants to remember all the places they went. It is perfect for a girlfriend to keep track of all the areas her missionary or serviceman serves in while he is gone. It is a fully-personalized 16′ X 20 ” interactive memorial wall hanging to help keep your special person close to home.

One of the most unique sections of the Tracker is the full-color cork-backed map. This map is topographical and to scale, with the actual boundaries of the mission or travel area outlined in an easy-to-see gold. Any special cities, like the one the missionary or serviceman is based in, can be highlighted. There are eight map-pins of assorted colors parked in the cork to the side or along the bottom of the map, waiting for you to mark the cities. The address cards are color-coded to the map pins so you can see where your missionary is at a glance. We have also included address cards for the MTC and the mission home. These cards can be personalized according to your needs.

The clear 4″X6″ pocket holds the latest letter or photograph from your missionary or serviceman. You can print out the latest email or just pop in the most recent snail-mail letter so that you can pick it up and read it again and again. The last pocket on the Tracker holds a full two-year-plus calendar. You can mark the calendar with colored pencils to match the address cards and map pins. This will help you see how long they are in each area. Soon, you will see how time has flown. For your convenience, this pocket is also clear so you have a place to display additional current photos.

When your family member returns, the Tracker makes a great memento for them to hang on their wall (If you can bear to give it up) . It is the ultimate resource for keeping your far-away family member right there at home.

Place your missionary’s picture in the Tracker by bending (or turning) the tabs, removing the cardboard backing and taping the picture behind the photo opening. Replace the cardboard backing and bend the tabs back into place.

Write your missionary’s MTC address and mailbox number on the MTC AREA card, and replace it in the AREA card window. Fill out the Mission Home address card and keep it handy – place it in either the letter or calendar pocket, or keep with the AREA cards

When your missionary arrives in the mission, place the MTC address card behind the stack of AREA cards and write the address of the missionary’s first area on the AREA 1 card. Choose the matching colored pin and push it into the map in the corresponding city. If the city is not on the map, just put the pin in the general area of the city. Fill in the Mission Home card to keep that address handy for sending packages – you can put that card in the clear pocket with the calendar for easy reference.

As your missionary transfers, move the old AREA card to the back of the stack and write the new address on the new AREA card. Add the matching colored pin to the map.

Pull the calendar out of the clear pocket to mark it. Use colored pencils on the calendar to fill in each day that your missionary serves. (Permanent markers can be too dark, and highlighter markers can bleed) There are many ways to mark your calendar – some suggestions are:

Color the dates on the calendar with the corresponding Area color during the time your missionary is in that Area (color the spaces red while the missionary is in the first area, then switch to blue when they move to the second area, etc.)

Use one color while they are in the MTC, (or use one color to show the assignment they have in the MTC, such as blue for missionary and green for District Leader and color one corner of the calendar square red to show that they’re in the MTC at the same time), and then other colors when they reach the mission field.

Use different colors when your missionary receives different assignments such as District Leader, Zone Leader or Trainer (or go two-toned if your missionary is filling two assignments at the same time)

Use a designated color to represent transfer dates

Use a designated color to represent convert baptisms

You might add stickers for special events

You can use the back of the address cards to write the names of the companions your missionary has while he is in that area.

Place your missionary’s most current letter, email or photo in the letter pocket so that you and your family can easily view it again and again.

When placing the letters in a scrapbook, you can back them with the color of the corresponding area for easy location later by your missionary.

You can also place pictures in the calendar pocket.

Mission Tracker gives you a great selection of mat colors to choose from. We use Crescent Decorative Matboards. These quality matboards are made of wood pulp fibers. Surface, core and backing paper are buffered with calcium carbonate.

These four popular color choices are always available for the Large Mission Tracker:

Black / Dark Olive

Dark Olive / Khaki* (Light Umbria)

Black / Khaki* (Light Umbria)

Indigo Blue / Khaki* (Light Umbria)

Each mat is laser-cut to our specifications by Country Lazer out of Beaver Dam, Utah. The mats are then glued together and each of the items hand placed and attached. The mats are then placed in a 16″ X 20″ black wood frame, and are ready to ship to you. The photograph can be sent to us in advance, so that we can mount it, or if you prefer, you can easily mount the photo by bending the tabs on the backing cardboard, lifting it out, placing the photo behind the opening, and carefully taping it in place. The cardboard backing can then be replaced, the tabs bent back, and you are ready to hang your Mission Tracker in its place of honor.

It can sometimes be difficult to choose just the right color combination for your room. When in doubt, the Black / Khaki combination is easily the favorite as it matches any decor.

Custom colors are available for an additional cost. Please contact us for specific information regard custom matboard orders.

*Khaki is a descriptive word used to help you get a better idea of what color “Light Umbria” is.

LDS Misson Maps for the Mission Trackers are personalized to each individual mission. Maps are also personalized with the area of deployment for servicemen.

Mission maps are created with professional map-making software by Cartografx. First, you send me a copy of the black and white LDS mission map included in your missionary’s mission call. You can scan and email the map as long as you get the shaded area to show up on your scanner. You may also photocopy the mission map and mail it if you prefer. Using that map for reference, I create a topographical map of the area and outline the approximate boundaries of the LDS mission as shown on your map. This way you have the actual mission rather than just one state or country. Individually working with each map allows me to make it large enough to actually find most of the cities that have been served in.

I work to get the largest map of the mission that will fit on an 8″ X 9″ map. The named city of the mission is highlighted; for instance looking at the mission map above you will see that the city “Baton Rouge” is highlighted. The name of the country or state will also be highlighted. If you order a Mission Tracker after the missionary is in the field and you know some of the cities he or she has served in, I can highlight those cities as well. Because I personalize every map, I am happy to work with your special needs. Obviously, many of the cities are very small and will not show up on an average map. If, when the mission is over, you find that many of the cities your special person has served in are not on your map, I will be happy to create a new map with specific cities added and highlighted for a minimal charge. I will then send it to you and you can attach it in place of the original map.

You may order just the full-color map of any mission to be shipped to you for just $10.00. If you would like to do this, please email me at trackemfor2@yahoo.com.

There are many LDS missions in the world, and it has been interesting to note that I have rarely duplicated Mission Trackers to the same mission. However, if I have already created a map of your mission, you will not need to send me a copy of the map in your mission packet. You can be assured that no two Mission Trackers will be alike, even if they represent the same mission, because each will have the name of the missionary and his or her dates of service, and will be created with your choice of mats.

Following is an alphabetical list of LDS mission maps that I have created within the past two years. Anything older than that is probably not current enough. If your missionary is serving in one of these missions, you will not need to send me the map:

In the bottom left corner of your Tracker you will see the 4″ X 6″ clear letter pocket, titled “This Week’s ‘Letter.” This pocket is designed to hold the most recent letters from your missionary or serviceman. How convenient it is to have that letter always at your fingertips! It could also hold the most recent weekly email you print out for your family to read. Because it is a clear pocket, you can easily place a recent 4″ X 6″ photograph that your missionary or serviceman sends home in it to be seen by all. This allows you to have the latest bit of information from your loved one right at your fingertips. When anyone comes to visit you can quickly access the latest photo or letter to share with them.

CALENDAR

In the lower right quarter of the Tracker is the clear Calendar pocket. This clear pocket handily holds a customized calendar. Each calendar is customized based on the date your missionary enters the MTC or the date your serviceman leaves for deployment. Each calendar for missionary Elders consists of 26 months, which allows you to mark each day from the time they leave until they return, even if they extend their mission for a few weeks. For a sister missionary the calendar runs for 20 months. For a missionary couple, the calendar can be adjusted for whatever length of time they will be serving. For a serviceperson, the calendar can be adjusted to whatever length of time they will be away, and can even have non-continuous months if they are deployed, return for a time, and then go back out.

MARKING THE CALENDAR

Marking the calendar is best done with colored pencils. Highlighter markers and other markers tend to bleed color, so I have found that colored pencils do the best job. Choose a specific color for their time in the MTC, and mark each day they are there. Many missionary moms like to mark the calendar based on the area their missionary is serving in. For instance, the color for the Area 1 pin is red. You might color each day that the missionary serves in that area with a red colored pencil. Then, when they move to the next area, you place the dark blue pin in the next city and begin coloring the calendar days with a dark blue colored pencil.

**Each calendar may be personalized with a scripture that is specialized to your missionary.

There are ten address cards in a handy clear pocket to the left of the map. The first card is for the MTC (Missionary Training Center) address. This card has no connection to the map, since the missionary is usually only in the MTC for a few weeks before heading out to the actual mission. There are lines on the card where you can write the name of the mission and the Post Office Box at the MTC as well as the street address. This can be used for the Provo MTC as well as any of the other MTCs. You can also write the names of your missionary’s companions on the back, to help keep track of everything.

The second address card is labeled “Mission Home.” This card is for the address of the permanent mission home for that mission. You will use this address to send items in advance of your missionary, such as bedding or a bicycle, as well as using it frequently during the mission. When your missionary is having a transfer week, the only sure way to get a letter to him is by sending it to the Mission Home. Also, some missions require that packages be sent to the mission home. Often, this is the address you will give your ward to put in the weekly bulletin. This address is good for the entire length of the mission, so if you don’t want to constantly give out changes of address, this one comes in handy. You can place this card in one corner of the calendar pocket after your missionary is actually assigned an area, so that it is always handy and visible.

In addition to the MTC and Mission Home cards, we include eight AREA address cards. Each has space to write the address for the current area on the front. Many moms like to jot down the names of the companions on the back. The right edge of the AREA address card has a color bar that matches the map pin for that area. Once you write the address on the card, you place the pin in the corresponding city on the map. This way, you can see at a glance where your missionary is or has been and have the exact address right at hand. Of course, if your missionary is sent to more than eight areas, simply let us know and we will send you additional AREA cards with different color bars and matching map pins.

Have you ever looked around to find an LDS missionary wall plaque or other LDS missionary gifts? Many people have searched dear elder and other LDS missionary gift shops looking for something that can honor and showcase an LDS missionary. LDS missionary moms often only find the basic wall plaque on dear elder that has a missionary’s picture and favorite scripture. We mainly see these on the Bishop’s bulletin board, but these are simplistic. A mission tracker is designed to showcase your missionary’s journey with style and functionality.

The mission tracker is in a league of its own as it is the only LDS missionary plaque that has features to show off your missionary. For example, this LDS missionary wall hanging contains address cards that show anyone who looks at the mission tracker where your missionary’s most recent lds mission addresses have been. This is great because now the kids and close friends can’t pretend like they don’t know where the addresses are for his current lds mission areas, because it is hanging on the wall. There is an lds mission boundaries map equipped with tracking pins so that a person can see where the missionary currently lives and where the missionary has already been. There is even a place for the most recent letter to be displayed so a friend or family member can easily catch up with the progress of your missionary. And of course, there is the mother’s favorite feature, the lds missionary calendar. Mothers can mark off the days the missionary has been gone so that they can easily track how many days are left before the missionary comes home.

Like we said, dear elder and other lds missionary stores don’t have a product that even compares to the Mission Tracker. Even though they may have an lds mission map on the plaque, it is simply one state or country. That lds missions map doesn’t take into consideration the actual boundaries of the mission, which the mission tracker neatly highlights. The mission tracker is also priced very competitively with these other inferior products to give you the best missionary wall plaque for the money to honor and keep track of your missionary.

Another great part about this item is that there are two separate models, one for the immediate family of the missionary and another for any lds missionary girlfriends, grandmas, or for the returning missionary. Both of these models have the classic lds missionary maps (or map of lds missions), lds missionary letters holders, mission boundaries, lds mission home addresses, lds mission home address, lds mission area map, etc. This one of a kind missionary plaque tracker is a missionary tracker that you will keep for years to come. The availability of your lds missionaries addresses, makes it so much more convenient to write. And it also helps to have the lds missionary addresses for friends or extended family that would like to write the missionary.

A few lds missionary calendar ideas would include color coding your marking with the color of the tac that shows what area they are in. That way you can monitor how long they have been in each area. This makes for more detailed, and complete lds missionary calendars upon your missionary’s arrival. If you need more ideas just ask your missionary’s lds missionary girlfriend, I’m sure they won’t have any problem giving you good ideas on how to keep track of your missionary. Overall, in terms of lds missionary plaques, there is nothing quite like the Mission Tracker to keep your loved one close to home.
