Letter/Calendar
THIS WEEK’S LETTER
![]()
In the bottom left corner of your Tracker you will see the 4″ X 6″ clear letter pocket, titled “This Week’s ‘Letter.” This pocket is designed to hold the most recent letters from your missionary or serviceman. How convenient it is to have that letter always at your fingertips! It could also hold the most recent weekly email you print out for your family to read. Because it is a clear pocket, you can easily place a recent 4″ X 6″ photograph that your missionary or serviceman sends home in it to be seen by all. This allows you to have the latest bit of information from your loved one right at your fingertips. When anyone comes to visit you can quickly access the latest photo or letter to share with them.
CALENDAR
![]()
In the lower right quarter of the Tracker is the clear Calendar pocket. This clear pocket handily holds a customized calendar. Each calendar is customized based on the date your missionary enters the MTC or the date your serviceman leaves for deployment. Each calendar for missionary Elders consists of 26 months, which allows you to mark each day from the time they leave until they return, even if they extend their mission for a few weeks. For a sister missionary the calendar runs for 20 months. For a missionary couple, the calendar can be adjusted for whatever length of time they will be serving. For a serviceperson, the calendar can be adjusted to whatever length of time they will be away, and can even have non-continuous months if they are deployed, return for a time, and then go back out.
MARKING THE CALENDAR
Marking the calendar is best done with colored pencils. Highlighter markers and other markers tend to bleed color, so I have found that colored pencils do the best job. Choose a specific color for their time in the MTC, and mark each day they are there. Many missionary moms like to mark the calendar based on the area their missionary is serving in. For instance, the color for the Area 1 pin is red. You might color each day that the missionary serves in that area with a red colored pencil. Then, when they move to the next area, you place the dark blue pin in the next city and begin coloring the calendar days with a dark blue colored pencil.
**Each calendar may be personalized with a scripture that is specialized to your missionary.
