Check Out Our Mission Maps
LDS mission boundary maps are created with professional map-making software from mapmaker Cartografx. We locate the main city where the mission home is and then zoom in around it until we have an area of the country or state that encompasses the mission. Next, we get onto the Google Maps portion of LDS.org to look at the current boundaries of the mission so we have a guide to follow. Next, we use Adobe Photoshop to hand draw the approximate boundaries of each individual LDS mission.
Look at the list of current maps in stock below to see if the map you are looking for has already been created. If your CURRENT mission map is not on the list, simply request it on our order form. Using an official map for reference, a topographical map of the area with an outline of the approximate LDS mission map boundaries as shown on your map is created. This map shows you the actual mission rather than just one state or country. Individually customizing each map allows it to be large enough for you to actually find most of the cities that have been served in.
The largest possible map of the mission that will fit on either your choice of an 8 inch x 10 inch map or the 11 inch x 14 inch map will be created (available printed or as a digital download). The named city of the mission will be highlighted as well as the name of the country or state. For example, the country “Argentina” and the city Rosario would be highlighted for the Argentina Rosario mission, and the state “North Carolina” and the city “Charlotte” would be highlighted for the North Carolina Charlotte mission. The names of adjoining states or countries will also be highlighted.
If you order a Mission Tracker after the missionary is in the field and you know some of the cities he or she has served in, those cities can be highlighted on the map that goes on it in addition to the country/state and main city. If you would like to have these cities highlighted, you will need to provide the name of each city and its approximate location. Because every map is personalized, we can work with your special requirements. Obviously, many of the cities are very small and will not show up on an average map. If, when the mission is over, you find that many of the cities your special person has served in are not on your map, you can order a new 8″ x 10″ map with specific cities added and highlighted to replace the one that came with your original Mission Tracker.
NOTE: There are hundreds of LDS missions in the world, and the boundaries change often. Check for correct boundaries BEFORE ordering. If the map for your mission has already been created or is needs updating, you can simply order it it by mission name and we will create it. You can be assured that no two Mission Trackers will be alike, even if they represent the same mission, because each will have the name of the missionary and his or her dates of service, and will be created with your choice of mats.
